VP1: Ayamango

Angelo Greetings from Ayamango, Tanzania! As the program is going to end, we are getting through the peaks of our time here- testing days and community day. In the community day and testing days SIC testing teams come in and teat the HIV status of people in the village. Especially in the community day we prepare a series of activities as a way of thanking the Gallapo ward, including a soccer tournament with teams from all the villages in Gallapo ward. The team which wins will receive a goat! To save money, the Ayamango team managed to get a goat for the price of 30,000 tsh. The usual price is 50,000 tsh, and this goat is amazing. We have named him Charlie Brown, mainly for the goats brown hair and attitude like Chris Brown. Walking Mr. Brown back to my house has been the funniest experience here. Mr. Brown just did not want to move. Cheers to all goatboys! Natalie There is this road outside our village’s primary school that we’ve started calling the danger zone. Every time any of us go around it we are constantly on the run from every child in the nearby vicinity (an their herds of goats), all screaming “tuko pamoja!” if we don’t reply “kushinda ukimwi” their cries only get louder an more frenzied. Tuko pamoja kushinda ukimwi. We are together in fighting aids. We have taught that slogan to every child in Ayamango primary school.
