CONCLUSION: The findings of this review confirm the utility of tenofovir urine assay to monitor adherence to HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis. Further studies are underway to implement the tenofovir urine assay to monitor adherence and pre-exposure prophylaxis, nationally and internationally.
