Measles is Back and so are the Consequences

Measles doesn't make the news very often, at least it doesn't until there is a big outbreak. Unfortunately, there have already been several large, ongoing outbreaks this year, including: an outbreak in New York City that has expanded to 34 cases in Borough Park and Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where it is thought that "additional cases will likely occur" and in which all of the cases were unvaccinated. Tragically, the complications of this vaccine-preventable disease have included "pneumonia, a miscarriage, and two hospitalizations." at least 23 cases of measles in North Carolina that was originally traced to an unvaccinated individual who traveled to India. ...Read Full Post
