The county says that is not the case.   DOOR COUNTY, Wis. – First responders in one county are concerned about a review of the local EMS service, claiming the county wants to privatize ambulance services. The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin wrote on its Facebook page recently Door County wants “to disrupt the county EMS system that currently exists” by bringing in a national emergency medical services company.   That’s not true says Board of Supervisors Chairman Dave Lienau, according to a report in the Green Bay Press Gazette. Lienau told the newspaper: "Nobody's proposing privatizing our ambulance service. Everyone agrees we have an excellent level of service in our EMS system. No one wants to see that go away." He said its all part of a department view which is done for all county services. Two companies responded to the county’s request to conduct a review of the Door County Emergency Services. According to the report, one company said the service should keep operating as it is. The other company found a few areas where costs could be reduced, or service levels increased by providing assistance or partnering with the county’s EMS.
