HIVE Southampton has another successful training evening!

Kate (Curriculum Coordinator) explaining the newest teaching resource – A version of the Million Pound Drop game. In February HIVE Southampton ran another training evening to increase numbers of trained teachers following lots of interest in our Schools Programme. With ever expanding numbers of Hampshire schools asking HIVE to deliver teaching sessions, the importance of training new teachers to continue the success of the current programme is ever present. A slide from the new Million Pound Drop teaching resource The training evening included introductions to all the committee members as points of contact, explanation of SIC and the multi-faceted role HIVE plays as part of the charity. Presentations included the basics of HIV, methods of transmission, immunology (delivered by the noble Nick), examples of current media such as videos and the importance of child protection issues. Teachers were also offered the opportunity to practice teaching in a less formal environment, and how to deal with those ‘difficult’ questions we all know so well! This brings HIVE Southampton’s number of newly trained teachers up to 65 for this year – a fantastic achievement which allows us to reach even more pupils to deliver HIV education in schools across Hampshire.
