Embracing A Theme

Great Event Themes Fully Executed Over the past couple of months I’ve had the pleasure of working with event planners who truly enacted the theme of their events! In Eastern North Carolina, Sherry Jones of Vidant Health organized a week-long Heart Truth Tour which took us to 7 different locations hosted by 8 different hospitals in the Vidant system.  At each hospital, the departments competed in a Red Dress Competition.  Each was give a Red Dress cut out to decorate.  They were tasked with including heart health messages in their designs.  The result: Fabulous. Not only was the staff engaged and thinking about heart health (a win all by itself), the Red Dresses were beautiful.  At each of the 7 venues the dresses were displayed and incorporated into the decorations for the event.  Spectacular! More recently I was delighted to find juggling balls at each woman’s place at the table for the Connecticut Women’s Leadership Council event.  What a great way to reinforce the message I shared about stress management – and a fun take-away item! I was able to incorporate how to use those balls when they went home into my program. What is the theme of your next event? How can you involve your staff or members in that theme before they arrive? What can they “take-away” to remember that theme in their own daily lives? I’m always happy to brainstorm with my event planning partners to fully implement a theme! Just ask me!
