ConclusionsMost GDP performed periodontal screening and diagnosis. They were confident in treating gingivitis and mild ‐to‐moderate periodontitis. Referral to a periodontist was associated with disease severity, tooth mobility, a complex medical history, or unsuccessful treatment.
