Department Head in Microbiology at the University of Georgia (Mycologists encouraged to apply!) The Department of Microbiology at the University of Georgia is recruiting an outstanding researcher and academic leader for a tenured faculty position as Professor and Head in Fall 2019. We seek a creative and dynamic individual who will lead us into the future as one of the nation’s premier microbiology departments, recognized for innovative and outstanding teaching and research programs and vigorous community involvement. Candidates with research interests that expand or complement existing departmental strengths are particularly encouraged, but all outstanding applicants will be carefully considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology or a related field, a well-funded research program, a scholarship record consistent with appointment as a tenured full professor, and demonstrated potential for leadership. In addition to leadership, the successful candidate will be expected to continue a strong extramurally funded research program and contribute to teaching in the Department. A competitive salary and ample resources will be provided.
