The application of fluoride varnish and brushing with 1450 ppm fluoride toothpaste, in addition to receiving evidence-based preventive advice, do not significantly reduce the conversion from caries-free into caries-active in 2- to 3-year-old children

ConclusionsThe authors concluded that the results from this randomized clinical trial failed to demonstrate that the intervention used in this study would prevent children from developing dental caries lesions into dentin when compared to standardized dental health care advice. However, they found that the intervention was able to slow down the progression of dental caries once it had started.
