‘Utter neglect’ of rheumatic heart disease revealed by results from global study

REMEDY study seeks to put an end to rheumatic heart disease in our own lifetime through the application of preventive measures: For progress to be made in preventing and treating this serious condition, it is vital to prioritise improving the use of penicillin prophylaxis, improving the appropriate use of oral anticoagulation therapy with warfarin, and providing contraceptive and other reproductive health services to women affected by rheumatic heart disease.
