The morphology of the vesica spermalis is described and the relation between the Basalis, Connata and Nigricans groups is analyzed. Erythrodiplax chromoptera is easily distinguished from the other congeners by the shape of the basal spot of the hind wing and the shape of the median process of the vesica spermalis.
