Equine and bovine oocyte maturation in a novel medium without CO2 gas phase

Routinely, immature equine oocytes are placed in complex or simple embryo holding media (HM) at room temperature overnight, followed by a CO2 phase incubation before ICSI and culture. The present study ’s objectives were to: 1) evaluate effects of a novel shipping/maturation medium without CO2 phase (EqMM) on oocyte developmental and metabolic competence using bovine cumulus oocyte complexes for initial validation and 2) evaluate developmental competence of immature equine oocytes matured in EqM M in a clinical program.
