Activities of The Korean Institute of Tuberculosis

The Korean National Tuberculosis (TB) Association (KNTA) set up the Korean Institute of TB (KIT) in 1970 for the purpose of fostering research and technical activities. KNTA/KIT had successfully conducted countrywide TB prevalence survey from 1965 to 1995 with 5 years interval. Through the result of the surveys, Korea became known for a country with successful national control program. KIT developed Korea TB surveillance system and laboratory management information system, which were transferred to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after its establishment.
