In this paper, the development of cell membrane chromatography and its preparation methods, the optimization of the system and methodological for stability and other issues were reviewed, as well the unique advantages on the selection of active ingredients of TCM. On this basis, the future development trend of cell membrane chromatography technique was discussed to provide ideas for the further development of cell membrane chromatography and its further application in the field of drug high throughput screeningGraphical abstractCell membrane chromatography is a biomimetic affinity chromatography technique using active cell membrane receptors as the stationary phase. It is used to build an in vitro screening model which has become a practical method to screen active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine or study the interaction between drugs and receptors.
