Family of origin scripts in coping with adversity: a question

AbstractIn this brief clinical practice paper I suggest a question that can be used in work with families, couples and individuals to address family of origin scripts in coping with adversity. I give a brief background to the question and two examples of its use in practice, including how I respond to the feedback to the question using a previously published idea – an ‘equation for change’ (Mason, 2010, 2011). I end with some concluding thoughts about the use of the question and the potential value of further research.
