Humanistic communication in the evaluation of shared decision making: A systematic review

In contemporary medicine, there is growing recognition that patients and clinicians must work together to figure out how best to address the patient ’s problematic situation. In a conversation, the patient and clinician identify the best way forward: an approach that fits best and makes the most intellectual, emotional, and practical sense [1]. This means that not only do patients and clinicians know and understand that it is the best option a t hand, it also feels right and can be implemented in the life of the patient [2].
