Restrictive guideline for red blood cell transfusions in preterm neonates: effect of a protocol change

ConclusionThe use of a more restrictive transfusion guideline leads to a reduction in red blood cell transfusions in preterm neonates, without evidence of an increase in mortality or short ‐term morbidity.
