Early Serious Mental Illness Treatment Locator

One of the most important advances in treating serious mental illness in recent years is improving care for people experiencing a first onset of serious mental illness such as psychosis, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and other conditions. It is known that early phases of mental illness can be identified, and then team-based coordinated specialty care treatment reduces the likelihood of long term disability. SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) new Early Serious Mental Illness Treatment Locator will help connect people experiencing a first onset of serious mental illness to effective care. These evidence-based programs provide medication, therapy, family and peer support, assistance with education and employment and other services.
