In celebration of his 65th birthday, this issue ofBiopolymers is dedicated to the scientific career and research achievements of Prof. Vincenzo Pavone. The cover highlights his contributions to the field of peptide and protein design. Vincenzo pioneered the use of non ‐coded amino acids as molecular tools to freeze peptides into defined and functional three‐dimensional structures. He built a wide range of bioactive peptides, and peptide‐based metalloprotein models. Included are (L‐Pro‐Aib)4 in a novel helical structure, the b ‐bend ribbon; MEN10627, a potent anti‐inflammatory peptide; and Mimochrome IV, a miniaturized hemeprotein.
