“A change would do you good”: Training medical students in Motivational Interviewing using a blended-learning approach – a pilot evaluation
Chronic diseases —such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and diabetes—are strongly associated with inappropriate health-related behaviors, like physical inactivity, smoking, heightened consumption of alcohol, and/or poor diet [1–4]. Research has shown that counseling towards lifestyle modification can improv e appropriate health-related behavior [5–7]. However, research has also shown that physicians do not adequately address the issue during patient encounters [8], due to a self-perceived lack of practical skills [9,10].
