Barriers to adopt the Health Promoting Hospitals (HPH) initiative in Iran: the Q method derived perspectives of front line practitioners

Reorientation of health services towards establishment of a health care system that could balances valuable resources to the pursuit of health is a corporate international responsibility. In line with the imperative recommendation in the first international conference on health promotion (Ottawa, Canada 1986) the Health Promoting Hospital (HPH) initiative was launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) at 1988 and pilot tested since then in a number of European countries [1]. The preliminary findings of this early phase probing of the HPH were promising and indicative of its applicability in all types of hospitals in countries with diverse health systems and contrasting socio-economic status [2].
