Dietary habits and adherence to dietary recommendations in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes compared with the general population in Denmark

Diet is a cornerstone in the management of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) and dietary guidance aim to maintain and improve healthy eating habits in order to achieve optimal metabolic control. According to The Diabetes and Nutrition Study Group (DNSG) of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes [1] dietary guidelines for patients with T1D and T2D are very similar to the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations (NNR) [2] including the National Food-based Dietary Guidelines [3] targeted the general population.
