Metallo- β-lactamases and class D carbapenemases in south-east Tunisia: Implication of mobile genetic elements in their dissemination

The emergence and spread of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections constitute a major public health problem worldwide [1]. Indeed, several studies have shown an association between infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria and high mortality rate and long period of hospitalization [2].
