Development and validation of a Virtual Agent to screen tobacco and alcohol use disorders

Tobacco use disorder estimate is 22% in worldwide general population (World Health Organization, 2016), and that of alcohol use disorder is 4.1% (World Health Organization, 2014). However, the proportion of individuals who have currently been engaged in alcohol or tobacco use disorder treatment is low, probably under 10% (Hasin and Grant, 2015; World Health Organization, 2017). Better screening of individuals for tobacco or alcohol use disorder to provide the appropriate care is of major interest.
