Diagnostic consequences of a new category of anxious depression and a reduced duration requirement for anxiety symptoms in the ICD-11 PHC
The World Health Organization (WHO) Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse is coordinating the development of the Mental, Behavioural, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders chapter of the Eleventh Revision of the International Classifications of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11), including a version of the mental disorders classification for use in primary care settings, the ICD-11 PHC (Goldberg, 2011; Goldberg, Prisciandaro and Williams, 2012). For the previous version of the classification, the ICD-10, WHO had also produced a classification of mental disorders intended for primary care settings, the ICD-10 PHC (World Health Organization, 1996), which included diagnostic and management guidelines for abbreviated set of disorder categories.
