“SIMBurns”: A high-fidelity simulation program in emergency burn management developed through international collaboration

Acute management of a severely burned patient is an infrequent and stressful emergency situation. The proper management of burn patients requires medical knowledge as well as immediate action. The time-sensitive nature of these situations create a stressful environment, which delineates the importance of having a skilled and well-coordinated team. A significant majority of adverse events in health care are often associated with non-technical skills, such as poor leadership, inadequate teamwork, lack of coordination, and ineffective communication [1].
