Microscopic anterior neural decompression combined with oblique lumbar interbody fusion- a technical note

Minimally invasive oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) techniques generally rely on deformity correction to achieve indirect neural decompression. However, sometimes indirect neural decompression is not sufficient and a second procedure in the form of posterior direct decompression is added to achieve full decompression. This increases both the surgical morbidity and health care costs. The current paper describes technique of direct anterior microscopic neural decompression in cases undergoing oblique lumbar interbody fusion.
