Feasibility of a Kinect ®-based rehabilitation strategy after burn injury

Early mobilization and rehabilitation has become a hallmark in the management of critical care patients that is associated with decreased physical impairment and hospital length of stay [1]. In burn patients, the burden of long-term cognitive and neuromuscular impairment is compounded by prolonged muscle catabolism and joint stiffness from cutaneous scarring [2]. As such, it is essential that burn patients are provided early intensive rehabilitative therapies in order to maximize functional outcomes [3].
