Sugar consumption and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD): a birth cohort study

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is characterized by persistent symptoms of lack of attention, impulsivity and hyperactivity. It generally first appears during childhood and persists through adolescence and into adulthood, with cumulative losses over the course of development of the individuals affected. (Barkley and Roizman, 2002, Association, 2013) ADHD is one of the most prevalent neurobiological disorders in the world, (Polanczyk  et al., 2007) and presents complex, highly inheritable etiology.
