Silver diamine fluoride in the medical management of oral disease

Silver has been valued for thousands of years for its antimicrobial properties and continues to be of use in various treatments. Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) was developed to combine the antimicrobial properties of silver with the benefits of a high dose of fluoride. The history and current dental applications of SDF were discussed.
