Prognosis and first diagnostic ECG in STEMI patients referred to the emergency medical system for primary PCI
When assessing time to reperfusion in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients, we refer to time points which may be objectively obtained, such as the Emergency Medical System (EMS) call, the time of the first qualifying electrocardiogram (ECG), the door time or the time of cardiac catheterization laboratory (cath-lab) in which recanalization of the culprit coronary is attained. These time points are currently used to measure the system delay in delivering primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) [1].
