Who benefits from rental assistance? Evidence from a natural experiment

This program led to a marked increase in the number of students renting apartments in the city center. Using diff-in-diffs hedonic estimations, we find that 70–80% of the rent subsidies remained in the hands of the students, within the broad range of incidence rates found worldwide.
