Support and Care for Transgender Children

Through a partnership between the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians, The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, Supporting & Caring for Transgender Children, was produced. This resource provides information to help parents, friends, and the community better understand and better equipped to help transgender children as they explore their gender identity. The document is also a great resource for healthcare professionals who will be better able to support and care for their transgender pediatric patients. The information includes contributions and review by the AAP Section on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health and Wellness. The document includes: terms to describe transgender children information that debunks myths about transgender children and “gender-affirming” care recommendations for families to support transgender and gender-expansive kids a list of additional resources
