ESA Statement on the National Museum of Brazil

Annapolis, MD; September 5, 2018 —We at the Entomological Society of America were deeply saddened at the tragic destruction of the National Museum of Brazil (Museu Nacional) in a fire this weekend. We are grateful that no serious injuries occurred, but the same cannot be said for the deep repository of irreplaceable scientific an d historical treasures that were housed there. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Museu Nacional staff, its greater scientific community, and the people of Brazil.
