Clinical significance of urinary fluoride levels in patients with hydrofluoric acid burns

Zhejiang is a coastal province in southeast China characterised by rapid economic development and high industrialisation, particularly in the western area [1]. The chemical industry is a pillar of the economy of Zhejiang province which is rich in fluorites. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) is extracted mostly from fluorites and has been used as a basic raw material in the synthesis of inorganic and organic fluorides, fluorine refrigerants, and novel fluorine-containing materials. Several fluorine chemical enterprises in the region have been expanded since the 1990s, and the number of new joint ventures, private enterprises, and individual enterprises in the fluorine chemical industry continue to increase.
