Correlation between invasive and noninvasive blood pressure measurements in severely burned children

In pediatric burn management, vital signs including blood pressure are commonly used in the clinical decision making process. For this reason, the accuracy of diagnostic methods used to obtain these parameters is extremely important [1]. Blood pressure measurements must be accurate to avoid any under or overtreatment [2,3]. The two most commonly used methods to measure blood pressure involve the use of invasive intra-arterial lines or a noninvasive blood pressure cuff. Of these, the arterial line method is considered the gold standard [2].
