Role of the family in Treatment Decision-Making process for Omani women diagnosed with breast cancer

Shared Treatment Decision Making (TDM) is the process through which patients, physicians, and family members become involved to decide medical treatment, through sharing information, expressing treatment preferences, and agreeing on how to implement the proposed treatment plan [1]. Thus, for patients with life-threatening diseases such as cancer, shared the TDM with their physicians has been associated with improved physical and psychological health outcomes, greater patient compliance, higher patient satisfaction, and reduced overall healthcare costs [2,3].
