P 108 – Quantity and quality of the peroneal nerve muscles in leg with chronic ankle instability assessed by ultrasonography

Ultrasonography can assess the muscle quantity (cross-sectional area, CSA) and quality (adipose tissue within the muscle) which are determinant of muscle strength. Few studies measure the peroneal nerve muscles ’ (PNM) quantity and quality with evertor strength. Furthermore, the results of previous studies whether evertor strength decreased or not in legs with chronic ankle instability (CAI) were inconsistent. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether evertor strength decrease or not in legs w ith CAI and examine the changes in muscle quantity and quality of PNM.
