Team-Based Approach to Improving Opioid Management in Primary Care

A collaborative project between the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Washington State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has created a new website: Six Building Blocks: A Team-Based Approach to Improving Opioid Management in Primary Care. The majority of patients taking opioids for chronic pain are managed by primary care providers. Many practices are looking for help in managing their patients using chronic opioid therapy. This website is for clinicians and staff, quality improvement personnel, and clinic administrators. It provides a structured systems-based approach for improving management of patients on chronic opioid therapy for pain, and provides tools for clinics and providers who might otherwise not have access to this information.
