The importance of cultural fit in the success of internationally qualified nurses: A comment on Brunton & Cook (2018)

Recent New Zealand (Brunton& Cook, 2018) and Australian (Philip et al. 2018) studies highlight how socialisation is a critical assimilation tool for internationally qualified nurses. These findings have important implications for healthcare globally, as data suggest that a lack of cultural fit is one reason why internationally qualified nurses have difficulty transitioning into the workplace and may result in them seeking work elsewhere (Jenkins& Huntington, 2015, 2016; Walker& Clendon, 2012a, 2012b).
