Pilot study: Lessons learned from researching novel ways to measure patellofemoral instability radiologically

Aim: Clinically, patients with patellar instability present with either pain or instability or both. Radiologically, patellar instability can be classified under trochlear dysplasia and measured by the difference between tibial tubercle to trochlear grove (TT-TG), with an abnormal measurement of>20mm and there may be other radiological features. It can be scored with Kujala clinical scoring, which also serves as a measurement of success of surgery. Postoperative satisfaction can be anywhere between 60-95%.
