Quality of referrals to a tertiary cardiothoracic unit; How one simple intervention has made a drastic improvement

Aim: On commencing the lung cancer diagnosis pathway, a contrast CT scan is needed. PET-CT scan should be conducted and head imaging considered, on patients potentially requiring radical treatment. Lack of critical information on a referral to our Unit contributed to a Serious Untoward Incident(SUI), therefore, referral content and quality were investigated.
