Caecal volvulus, a rare complication of abdominoplasty
Introduction: Caecal volvulus is a rare complication of abdominoplasty with only one published report in 2014. Incomplete rotation of the caecum during embryogenesis predisposes patients to caecal volvulus as there is potential for the mesentery to twist. Additionally, intra-abdominal pressure rises following abdominoplasty, reducing the likelihood of volvulus resolving spontaneously.
