Using GMC/ RCSEng guidelines to introduce and develop an effective surgical handover list to improve patient safety

Aim: Currently at UHL, there is no formal handover list which is updated on a daily basis. Ward rounds are delayed, Doctors are late for theatre/clinic and patients care is comprimised. The RCS and GMC have developed a set of guidelines for effective handover and have a set criteria of what must be included on a handover list. We have set the standard at 90% compliance.
