An audit on fasting surgical patients on the trauma list: A retrospective and prospective analysis on fasting surgical trauma patients

Aim: Guidelines recommend fasting patients for 6 hours before procedures to prevent aspiration. Prolonged fasting increases postoperative problems. Giving carbohydrate drinks 2 hours before procedures is safe and can reduce prolonged fasting. The aim of this audit is to assess the fasting duration of patients on the surgical trauma list
