Remembering Bob Jahn: 1930-2017

Over the course of his life, Robert George Jahn earned widespread admiration and respect for his keen intellect and numerous scientific achievements. Our lives intersected in 1978 when he was 48 years old, introducing a whole new dimension to his existence. Prior to that, he had followed a fairly traditional and highly successful academic path as a teacher and scholar. I will attempt to summarize that era briefly, if only to establish a context for my personal tribute to him.
