Editorial Comment

In this cohort of patients with rigorous followup these outcomes are favorable. However, 48% of patients experienced recurrence in the bladder, including 11% with MIBC and 37% with high grade NMIBC. This shortfall in bladder tumor local control is concerning, particularly in this highly selected cohort at centers where there is significant experience with bladder cancer and where hundreds of cystectomies are performed per year. Moreover, these results may not be applicable to the general community.
