Barrier-belief lifestyle counseling in primary care: a randomized controlled trial of efficacy

Engaging in regular moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (PA) and a healthy daily diet are both associated with physical and mental well-being [1 –3], as well as reduced risk of all-cause mortality from lifestyle-related chronic diseases and premature death [4–7]. However, in Western societies the majority of the population is not sufficiently engaged in PA [8], and a high percentage of people across the world fail to meet recommendations for a healthy diet [9,10].
