Dietary patterns and abdominal obesity in middle-aged and elderly Japanese adults: The WASEDA'S Health Study

The prevalence of obesity is increasing worldwide [1, 2]. Abdominal obesity is a primary risk factor for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease [3, 4], and it has been shown to be associated with impaired physical functions and lower quality of life [5]. From a public health standpoint, it is important to reduce the prevalence of abdominal obesity.
