In vivo singlet molecular oxygen measurements: sensitive to changes in oxygen saturation during PDT

The Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive method for treatment of skin cancer, endoscopically accessible tumors, skin diseases and other diseases [1]. It is based on three components: a photosensitizer (PS), light for PS excitation and molecular oxygen. After the accumulation in the target tissue the PS is excited by visible light and undergoes an intersystem crossing from its first excited singlet state to a long-lived triplet state.
